It’s always interesting to me how God uses certain things unexpectedly to teach us…
This morning during worship, my one year old daughter, Jenna, fell asleep in my arms as we were singing worship songs. I don’t know what it was about the moment, but as I was singing praise to our heavenly Father while looking down at my little girl sleeping peacefully in my arms, I couldn’t help but be overcome by the thought that God offers the same for us… to wrap his arms around us and hold us tight, allowing all of the concerns of the world to fade away as we simply trust Him, love Him, enjoy the warmth of His embrace, and allow Him to shower us with His love. The problem is, we’re often like the restless, busy child… interested more in doing what we want to do, going where we want to go… trying to wriggle out of the arms of our Father.
So… are you missing out on the peace of being held? Do you struggle against God, or do you let Him have control of your life and experience the joy of his comforting embrace?
If you know God, and have entrusted your life to Him… you’ll know that we’ve all been there (probably more often than we’d like to admit), and that we could all use a little life lesson from a one year old every now and then. If you don’t have a relationship with Christ, won’t you allow yourself to trust God today, and experience love like you’ve never felt before?
