Today, my beloved Kansas City Chiefs played the Raiders. Well, I say they played them, but I’m not entirely sure that it was the Kansas City Chiefs (or any other NFL team, for that matter) that actually showed up to play.
Bottom line… it was ugly. VERY ugly.
Since I was at the game today (BIG TIME props to my sister and brother-in-law… 6th row seats, baby!), I’ll summarize it with a few captioned photos.
Yes… Herm knows what I think. My friend Tom knows what I think (thanks for coming man, it was a blast even though the game stunk!). And a bunch of other Chiefs fans in section 116 know what I think.
We took a BIG step backwards today. If we play like this every week, we’ll be the first 0-16 team in NFL history.
Yes, it was THAT bad. Here’s hoping the Chiefs team that played in Foxboro last week shows up in Atlanta next Sunday.
As I said before… I might want the Chiefs to be good, simply to see the old Chiefs-Broncos rivalry really intense like it used to be… as opposed to the hilarity of watching the Raiders collapse, which is ALWAYS entertaining. Sadly, when the Chiefs lose to those Raiders, John, things are not going well.
Here’s to the old days.. when KC had the fiercest home stadium and the fiercest linebackers in all the land…
PS: Maybe you’ll hire Lane Kiffin and he’ll be the next Mike Shanahan.. because you and I both know Herm isn’t the answer.
Maybe it’s because I’m a die-hard fan, Joe, but I’m still holding onto the hope that all these young guys Herm has brought in will develop into quality players in a year or two. I’m holding onto the hope that the nightmare I witnessed today is just a painful (yet unavoidable) part of the rebuilding process. I’m holding onto hope that dawn has GOT to be just ahead… because this HAS to be the darkest we’ll see.
But yeah, I hear you, loud and clear.
Here’s to three yards and a cloud of dust… here’s to unforgettable Monday Night Football finishes… here’s to annual playoff berths, and yes, even to one and dones… here’s to 40+ points and three point wins.
To the good ol’ days…
