As may have been obvious by my posting of Amazon.com’s top 100 books to read in a lifetime list, I’ve been making a conscious effort to read more this year.
Over the past couple weeks, I’ve knocked out “Next”, by Michael Crichton, and “Dune”, by Frank Herbert. I’m halfway through “Glorious Ruin”, by Tullian Tchividjian, and have the following four sitting on my bedside table:
- “Brave New World”, by Aldous Huxley
- “Dune Messiah”, by Frank Herbert
- “Moneyball”, by Michael Lewis
- “Catch-22”, by Joseph Heller
In addition to these, I’ve got five or ten books I’ve picked up for free (or close) on the Kindle thanks to Tim Challies and his daily “A La Carte” feature.
So it’s a varied lot. Literary classics. Science fiction. Sports. Faith-related books.
Then again, as Confucius says:
No matter how busy you may think you are, you must find time for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance.
Whether that’s a legitimate quote or not (hey, I found it on the internet… it must be true)?
It’s important to feed your head.
(And quite enjoyable at that.)
