Ever notice how many voices you hear each day? Think about it… newscasts… radio broadcasts… newspapers… websites… blogs (yes, even this one)… discussion forums… advertisements… television shows… music. Oh, don’t forget friends… family… co-workers… bosses… need I go on?
Which voices do you listen to? Perhaps a better question… which voices do you embrace? Or even better… which voices should you embrace?
Casting Crowns has a very appropriate song on this subject, entitled “Voice of Truth”. Here’s the chorus:
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, “Do not be afraid!”
And the voice of truth says, “This is for my glory.”
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth.
When it comes to voices that influence us, it’s critical that we listen to a trustworthy voice… a voice of truth… THE voice of truth.
Won’t you still yourself, tune out the conflicting voices of this world, and listen for the voice of our Lord today?
