Just ran across this story from MSNBC.com: Whaling Harpoon Nearly Hits Protesters.
You know, I’m all for saving the whales (they’re a pretty awesome part of God’s creation)… but I have to question the wisdom of Greenpeace protesters in this case.
What could drive a person to such lengths of devotion so as to risk losing their life over the fate of an animal? Dying for another human being, I understand (I’d like to believe I wouldn’t even think twice about giving up my life for those I love, especially my wife and kids), and even dying for one’s faith (I’d like to believe that I’d do that if put in that kind of situation)… but animals? Seems like you’d have to have awfully misplaced priorities to risk your life for a whale.
I can’t help but wonder: what drives these folks?
Any thoughts?
