Chiefs Youth Movement… (Episode 3)

After seeing last week’s debacle versus the Raiders, I didn’t think it could get much worse.

Then I watched the first half of this weeks’ game against the Falcons. The Chiefs were almost totally inept offensively, and our defense couldn’t seem to tackle or stop big plays. Ugly football, no matter how you look at it.

Thankfully, the second half wasn’t quite so bad. We moved the ball a bit… LJ got into a bit of a groove, and Thigpen figured out how to throw to the white jersies (I’m guessing he still thought we were in red). Even the defense improved… well, maybe a bit.

Notable from the game? Tony Gonzalez. What can you say, but the guy is awesome. Today, he hit 10,000 yards for the career… he’ll surely break the TE yardage record next week at home versus the Broncos. And how about LJ? A 100 yard game… running with emotion and power. Where’d that come from?

I’m still not sure what to think of this team though. Yeah, they’re young… I expect the offense to be bad with a very green offensive line and a third string starting QB. And the defense? Sure… you’d expect problems at times, but giving up so many big plays?

I’m just not so sure youth can really explain how bad this team looks at times.

Anyway, after a second horrific performance, I’m wondering how in the world we’ll find a win this year. We couldn’t beat the Raiders at home, and the Dolphins? Well, they just beat the snot out of the Patriots… IN FOXBORO.

It’s gonna be a LONG year.
