Losing Good People

I love reading good leadership material, and try to glean insights from a variety of different sources.

What I don’t do so well is to keep and share them. I haven’t written on the topic much at all over the years, despite my interest.

That’s changing now. As I come across great articles (like this one), they’ll show up here. I may even share a few thoughts of my own.

Why do organizations, whether civic, corporate, or church, lose good people? Odds are, it’s not the work, the organization itself, or perhaps even the pay / recognition.

It’s poor leadership.

Dr. Travis Bradbury gives nine thoughts in this article that may trigger some thoughts about your leadership style or the leadership style of your organization. Entitled “9 Things That Make Good Employees Quit”, you’ll almost undoubtedly find something here that jumps out at you.

It’s not rocket science, but how we treat people matters immensely.

Set the tone in your organization by caring about people, and you’ll be amazed at what you see. Whether you personally embody a culture of caring from the top, the bottom, or anywhere else in the food chain, you can make a difference.
