O Holy Night

Ever notice how a simple song can do so much in aiding you in your daily walk with our Lord? Maybe it’s just me (although I doubt it), but some songs really just seem to hit hard and draw your focus to Jesus.

“O Holy Night” (performed by Barlowgirl on the WOW Christmas Green album, disc 1, track 13… preview here) did that for me today. It’s a powerful song anyway, but their version just struck me as meaningful today… particularly the chorus where the lyrics proclaim “Christ is the Lord! O praise His name forever!”

What a simple, yet powerful proclamation! Such a great reminder of who Jesus is and how we should respond to Him!

    I just had to let you know I found the lyrics to this song, and posted them on letssingit.com for anyone to get. Hop you enjoy.

    Barlow Girl – O Holy Night
    Oh holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
    It is the night of the dear Savior’s birth.
    Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
    Till He appear’d and the soul felt its worth.
    A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
    For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

    Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
    Oh night divine, Oh night when Christ was born;

    Truly He taught us to love one another;
    His law is love and His gospel is peace.
    Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother;
    And in His name all oppression shall cease.
    Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
    Let all within us praise His holy name.

    Christ is the Lord! O praise His Name forever,
    His power and glory evermore proclaim.

    Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
    Oh night divine, Oh night when Christ was born;
    Oh night divine, Oh night, Oh night Divine.

    Hi,
    I am blessed enough to belong to Hillsong (Sydney) and they recently sang “O holy Night” at the Chrsitams eve servce. I had no idea where the song had originated. My friends had never heard of the song so I am delighted to now be able to give them the lyrics.
    God bless you guys

    jennifer…

    Actually, the song is an old Christmas carol. I’m not certain where it originated (probably could find that out through a web search), but I really enjoy the modern touch Barlowgirl’s version brings.

    I would have to agree with you about this song. I have heard the original version of this song many times, but not like this. I am 14, and I have this song on my iPod to listen to every day on the way to school.
