It Could be a Long Season…

It’s no secret I’m a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan.

As I sit here watching the season opener versus the Houston Texans (can you say 6-10 last year?), I can only think of one word: UGLY.

What’s worse? With Eddie Kennison hurt on the season’s first play (apparently a hamstring injury), and an extremely inexperienced receiving corps behind him, we may be in trouble. While I thought we looked pretty decent on paper, the reality of this season is looking pretty bleak right now… questionable receivers, no return game (BTW, Dante Hall had an 84 yd kick return for the Rams!), a complete lack of offensive creativity, critical defesive breakdowns… it may be hard to watch.

At least Denver is losing (for now).

Well, so much for Denver losing. Thank AFC Special Teams player of the week Jason Elam for that.

Should I say “I told you so?” 🙂

btw, did you see the Packers rookie kicker in his first real game kicked a 53 yarder and a game winner? Boo-yah.

    That’s cold, man… real cold.

I guess I do have one thing going though… I was spot on about Dante. If I recall correctly, you said he was washed up. It’s too bad Chiefs management agreed with you… we could have used his spark today.

Anyway, here’s looking forward to cheese for lunch on November 4th… 🙂

I’ll give you that I’m surprised Dante did well today – although in my defense I don’t think he can do it on grass. Turf is the best thing that could happen to him.

I may be wrong, though. We’ll have to wait and see.

Micah, I think you’re closer to the truth about Dante.

He did not have the burst he used to have. He was chased down pretty handily on the 84 yard return when he had an open field.

Also, on at least 2 kickoff returns he did not make it back to the 25.

He’s still better than what we’ve (I’m from the right side of Missouri!) had for several years now, but I don’t know if you can blame the Chiefs for going in a different direction.

Dante’s still better than what the Chiefs ended up with. He’s never been the fastest of guys, but elusive? You bet.

    Mike…

The right side of Missouri? Only if you’re looking at a map… 🙂

I have “defesive breakdowns” a lot. But, increasing my dietary fiber takes care of it, thankfully.
