Chiefs Youth Movement… (Episode 6)

The story of the day? Not the fact that the Chiefs got crushed (that should have been expected)…

It’s that the Brodie Croyle era in Kansas City is over, before it ever really got started.

After starting the game with 8 of 9 passing, Brodie delivered a beautiful strike deep down the middle to Dwayne Bowe, complete to make him 9 of 10. After delivering the ball, though, he was taken down hard by two Tennessee defenders… and injured with some sort of knee injury. Worse? He’s out for the season after playing part of two games this year (and being injured in the 2nd quarter of both).

Does this guy have to worst bad luck streak in the history of football, or what? Eight games started… four injuries. Here’s hoping Brodie retires (for his own good), and focuses on the family ministry at Big Oak Ranch. You’ve gotta feel for the guy, but there are bigger things he can accomplish in life than being Chiefs quarterback!

Where does this leave the Chiefs? Essentially, without a quarterback. Huard is old and has feet encased in stone (not to mention that he TOO was injured during the game!). Thigpen is very young and inexperienced. And the new third QB? Well… let’s just say there aren’t many quality starters sitting 3rd string in the NFL.

The good news? If there is any, it’s rooted in the bottom line of the bad… we ought to be able to pick whoever we want in the draft, as we’re pushing HARD for worst record in the NFL and the overall #1 pick.

The rest of the season? It’s a VERY, VERY, VERY long ways away, and it can’t get over soon enough. They ought to let Thigpen see what he can do the rest of the year, so at least we can see what we’ve got in him.

Whatever the case, it sure looks like this year will go down as a complete waste for the Chiefs, though… possibly their worst season ever. It’s time for ownership to clean house… coaches, GM… everybody.

We’ll see if it happens.
